I was coming home yesterday from a doctor’s appointment, right in the middle of rush hour traffic, coming out of downtown Dallas, and my car started losing power.
I looked at the gauges the temp gauge was maxed out. The car started losing power, and I got it over to the shoulder of the road…and it caught on fire.
Not a little fire, but a huge roaring fire, totally engulfed like you’d see in a movie or something.
There happened to be a courtesy patrol car right behind me, and he came and got me out of the car right before it burst into flames.
He called the fire department who showed up to put out the fire.
It was an older car, so I didn’t have comprehensive insurance on it. I have no idea what I’m going to do.
@Tadlem43 Whoa! That’s terrible! But so lucky that patrolman was right behind to rescue you. I’m sorry you don’t have the insurance; same here with my older car.

@Tadlem43 WOW! May seem like bad luck, but I say Luck was on your side. You are alive, and I am assuming unharmed besides the loss of your vehicle. Dallas traffic is no joke. It could have been much worse. I hope another Guardian Angel shows up to help you. There are many good people in Texas .

I’m facing a real challenge in the car-cleaning area at the moment. My '06 Grand Caravan had the A/C drain-water-ending-up-on-passenger-floor problem that’s common to this and a number of other models as well. Once the fact of the condensate intrusion is identified, the solution is often easy, but this one flew under the radar for long enough that a dense white plaque of mushroom mycelium has formed in the carpet on that side. (Happily, it does not appear to have infested the sound deadening mat underneath.) I’ve stopped the condensate from getting onto the floor, so the mycelium has gone dormant, but many types can survive prolonged droughts, and I suspect this is one of them.
I’m going to apply a fungicide to kill it, but I suspect that the plaque will not simply disintegrate and make itself easily removable. This promises to be the opposite of fun.

That happened on my Subaru with something, I wanna say the power steering fluid but I could be wrong. Luckily I took it to the shop and cleaned and dried it out for me.
@Star2236@werehatrack The pedantic side of me wouldn’t let this go, but power steering fluid stays in the front side of the engine and doesn’t route into the passenger compartment at all, unless it was just a spilled bottle.
Moisture in the passenger compartment not caused by spills are generally from the windows, clogged sun/moon roof drains, AC condensation, leaks in the heater core and very rarely, a leak in the windshield washer hoses to the rear.
Interior stuff (receipts etc) gets picked up routinely.
Exterior cleaning involves hoping for a good rain.
A couple of times a year I’ll do a thorough “get out the vacuum/rags and bucket of water” routine.

WFH I only drove about once a week to the grocery store and my car stayed in the garage the rest of the time.
I don’t store trash in my car.
When it’s time to clean my car, I wash the outside and then vacuum the floors and stuff.
